Development in Sirmaur district speeded up

Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister today performed foundation stone laying ceremonies of Government Degree College building at Sarahan to be constructed at a cost of Rs. two crore, Tehsil Office building to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.53 crore and Tourist Hut to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 55 lakh at Sarahan in Sirmaur district. He also inaugurated additional accommodation for Government Senior Secondary School, Sarahan.
Addressing a huge gathering on the occasion, Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal said that his Government was committed for accelerating the pace of development in backward and far flung areas like Pachhad so that people living in these areas could reap the benefits of development. He said that since the BJP Government has taken over, the pace of development had been speeded up in Sirmaur district and added that during Congress regime the areas was totally neglected.
Chief Minister said that the State had witnessed the speedy development during last four and a half years and added that various prestigious National and International agencies which had undertaken surveys at their own had also found the State’s performance, the best in the country.
Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal said that the Government had ensured welfare of all sections of the society by implementing schemes aimed at their betterment. He said that Rs. 65 crore had been spent for providing four CFL bulbs free to each domestic electricity consumers in the State which had resulted in bringing down their bills by Rs. 110 crore annually.
Chief Minister said that each student in Government schools upto tenth standard had been provided free uniforms under Atal School Uniform Yojna. He said that over 9.30 lakh students had been distributed uniforms in the first phase. He said that besides uniform, Rs. 100 was being given as stitching charges to each student. He said that uniforms would be given twice in a year.
Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal said that Government was spending Rs. 140 crore on providing ration on subsidized rates to the ration card holders of the State. He said that every ration card holder was being provided three pulses, two edible oil and salt on heavily subsidized rates every month and had benefited every family by over Rs.6000 in a year.
Chief Minister said that Government had enhanced social security pension from Rs. 200 to Rs. 450, besides sanctioning this pension to 2.04 lakh new eligible persons during last four and a half years. He said that daily wagers of the workers had been enhanced from Rs. 75 to Rs. 150 which had given great succour to this section.

Prof. Dhumal said that Sirmaur district was also being given special attention for development of tourism and added that Rs. 7.36 crore were being spent on developing various places from tourism point of view like Paonta Sahib, Dhaulakuana, Deedag and Kufta.
He said that Rs. 33.15 crore had been spent on roads and bridges in Pachhad during last four and a half years whereas during five years of Congress Government only Rs. 15.40 crore were spent for this purpose. He said that 218 kilometres of roads had been provided cross drainage as against 80 kilometres during Congress regime. He said that Rs. 62 crore were being spent under NABARD in Sirmaur district as against Rs. 15 crore spent during Congress regime.
Chief Minister said that Rs. 142 crore was being spent on widening of Kumarhatti-Nahan road and added that more than fifty percent work on it had been completed and remaining would be done on war footing.
Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal said that 33 KV Power Stations at Baru Sahib and Sarahan was being set up. He said that helipad would be constructed at Baru and matter taken up with Government of India for opening Gas Agency at Sarahan.
Shri Chander Mohan, Chairman, H.P. State Cooperative Bank detailing out the developmental works undertaken in Sirmaur district during BJP regime said that BJP Government had always ensured welfare of people of Sirmaur district whereas during Congress regime they had been neglected.
Shri Chakar Dhar Bhandari, President, BJP Mandal, Pachhad also spoke on the occasion.
Dr. Rajeev Bindal, MLA and former Minister, Shri Virender Kashyap, Member of Parliament, Smt. Dayal Pyari, Chairperson, Zila Parishad were also present on the occasion among others.
