Yoga Education be made compulsory at Elementary level

Smt. Urmila Singh, Governor has emphasized the need for compulsory yoga education at elementary-level in educational institutions which would ensure all-round development of the students and lead to creation of model society.

Speaking in an annual Yoga camp organized by Dhyan Yoga Ashram and Ayurveda Research Centre at Kathani in District Solan today, Governor said that yoga centres should also be opened near health institutions so that people could also benefit from yoga and ayurveda practices. She said that State had tremendous treasure of herbs and medicinal plants which could play an important role in safeguarding the health of commonman.

She said that use of medicinal plants in treatment of patients would help in reducing side-effects. She said that natural and simple living always had positive impact on the personality of an individual. She said that there was need for continuous research in ayurveda system of medicine and added that practice of yoga could bring about a positive change in life.

Swami Devrishi Yogteerth said that inequalities and imbalances in the society could lead to lop-sided progress which could only be reversed with the practice of yoga. He said that yoga also gives right direction to a person to channelize his energy in positive way.

Shri K.R. Dhiman, Vice Chancellor, Horticulture and Forestry University said that simple living and natural food habits kept a person always fit and away from medicines. He said that consumption of seasonal fruits and vegetables was also useful for healthy living.
