Last date for registration of voters for SGPC elections extended

A spokesman of Panchayati Raj said here today Chief Commissioner Gurdwara Elections, Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Chandigarh has intimated that the last date for registration of voters for Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee election has been extended upto 14th August, 2010. Earlier the last date for registration of voters for Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee election was 15th July, 2010, he added.

He said that Chief Commissioner, Gurdwara Election has appealed to all eligible Keshdhari Sikhs, who comply with the conditions of Form-I, to submit their Forms without any further delay. He has further said that only those persons who would get themselves registered as voters in the electoral roll, now under preparation, would be entitled to exercise franchise in the next election of the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee and the persons on the electoral roll prepared at the time of last election of Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee will not be entitled to voter on this basis.

Spokesman further said that all individuals and organizations interested in the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee elections were requested to put in their best efforts in getting the eligible persons registered as voters.
