Family Background:

Born in a family of Freedom fighters of Gondwana and social reformers in village Fingeshwar in Raipur district erstwhile Madhya Pradesh (Now in Chhattisgarh)

 

Grand-Grand Daughter of Shaheed Raja Natwar Singh alias Lalla Shah of Hridaypur in Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh who was hanged by the Britishers. Other members of the family were sent to Kalapani (life imprisonment) in exile.

 

Daughter- in- law of late Rani Shyam Kurnari Devi, widow of Shri Virendera Bahadur Singh, Both remained MPs or MLAs throughout their life.
