Forest Department adopting IT for benefit of common people- Kapoor

  Additional Chief Secretary, Forest Shri Tarun Kapoor reviewed the various activities of Forest department through video conferencing with Conservators  and Divisional Forest officers of the State  here today and action plan for  the year 2017-18 was also drawn up.

He said that Forest Department was adopting information technology and many software had been prepared for the benefit of common people which includes approval for the felling of trees in government and private lands. He directed the officers to work with dedication and zeal for preservation and promotion of environment.

Referring to forest fire incidents, he asked officers to take all preventive measures and direct the field staff to remain alert for checking the fire incidents in their respective areas so that precious forest wealth could be saved. He also asked them to seek cooperation from local people and organizations to combat such incidents. He said that in each forest circle, one big nursery was being raised this year in which apart from forestry, fodder trees would be raised which would further be provided to the local people as per their needs.  He also stressed the need to raise local species in these nurseries.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Shri S.S. Negi, Principal Chief Conservator of Wildlife Shri S.K. Sharma and other senior officers of the department were also present on the occasion.
