Digidhan Mela at Shimla and Kullu

Department of Information and Technology in association with Niti Ayog will organize two Digidhan Melas at Shimla and Kullu in the State to promote concept of cashless transactions. On 19th March, 2017 Digidhan Mela will be held at Peterhoff in Shimla and on 22nd March, 2017 at Dev Sadan in Kullu.

Chief Secretary Shri V. C. Pharka presiding over the meeting of officers of Banks, Indian Oil Corporation, National Fertilizer  Limited  said that the purpose of these melas was to educate people about the use of digital mode of payments.  He said that in the fast changing financial world use of plastic money was becoming more popular, useful, convenient and transparent instead of using hard cash.

Chief Secretary asked people of every section of the society including students to visit the melas at the above venues to get the first hand knowledge about cashless transaction which was the future mode of transaction.  He asked bankers to disseminate information through publicity material and presentations regarding cashless transaction in these melas.

Principal Secretary IT Shri Jagdish Chander Sharma, Director IT Smt. Mansi Sahay Thakur and other officers were also present on the occasion.
