Glowing tributes paid to Smt. Indira Gandhi

Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh paying floral tributes to former Prime Minister late Smt. Indira Gandhi at Shimla on 31st October 2014

Chief Minister, Shri Virbhadra Singh led the People of the State in paying glowing tributes to former Prime Minister, late Smt. Indira Gandhi, on her 30th death Anniversary which was observed as ‘Sankalp Divas’ . He paid floral tributes at the statue of the former Prime Minister at the historic Ridge here today. 

Chief Minister was followed by Smt. Vidya Stokes, Irrigation & Public Health Minister, Dr. (Col) Dhani Ram Shandil, Social Justice & Empowerment Minister, Shri Mohan Lal Brakta, MLA, Shri Harish Janaratha, Vice Chairman, H.P. Tourism Development Corporation, Shri Yashwant Chajta, Vice Chairman, HIMUDA, Shri Tikender Panwar, Deputy Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Shimla, Shri Kehar Singh Khachi, President, District Congress Committee Shimla Rural, senior citizens, bureaucrats, councilors, people from all walks of life and school children who paid their rich tributes to the great leader.

Chief Minister also administered pledge of national integration to all the people assembled on the occasion including school children.

Shri Virbhadra Singh also visited the exhibition installed on the occasion, where the pictures of old memories of former Prime Minister during her visits in Himachal Pradesh were displayed. 

Talking to the media on the sideline of the function, Chief Minister said Smt. Indira Gandhi was a great visionary leader who sacrificed her life for the cause of Nation. He said that Smt. Gandhi was the first lady Prime Minister of the country who laid the strong foundation of the nation. Recalling her special affection for Himachal Pradesh and its people, the Chief Minister said it was due to Smt. Gandhi that Himachal Pradesh came into existence as 18th state of the country.
