The National level famous Holi festival of Sujanpur Tihra in Hamirpur district began with great fervor and enthusiasm today. Chief Minister, Shri Virbhadra Singh inaugurated the festival after offering prayers and paying obeisance at the ‘Murli Manohar Temple’. He led the colourful Holi Procession, (Shobha Yatra), from the temple till the Chougan in which thousands of people accompanied.
The bajantaris (traditional musicians), beating drums (nagaras) and blowing trumpets added majesty to the procession. It was for the first time that the decorated elephants, camels and horses also added colours to the procession. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the exhibitions of various government departments and NGOs, set up on the occasion.
He said that fairs and festivals were inseparable part of the lives of the people of the State and we were bound to preserve the traditional cultural and customs. He said the fairs give us the message of universal brotherhood, love and unity and exhorted the people to preserve the ancient customs at all cost and also aware the future generations of our age old cultural history and traditions.
Shri Rajinder Rana, former MLA and Vice-Chairman, State Disaster Management Authority gave a warm welcome to the Chief Minister on reaching Sujanpur.
Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Shri Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, MLAs Shri Yadvinder Goma, former Chief Parliamentary Secretary and former MLA, Smt. Anita Verma, and Ex-MLA, Shri Kuldeep Pathania, Advisor IT, Shri Gokul Butail, Chairman, KCCB, Shri Jagdish Sapehiya, Chairman, State Education Board, Shri Balbir Tegta, DCC President, Shri Naresh Kumar, Chairman, APMC, Shri Prem Kaushal, were also present on the occasion amongst others.
