Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has hailed the announcement made by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the Nation today regarding extension of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojna (PMGKAY) till the end of November this year.
Chief Minister said that the announcement of Prime Minister to extend free ration of 5 kg rice/wheat to each member of the family along with 1 kg whole gram to each family for five months to more than 80 crore people per month would prove to be a boon to these people at the time of distress. He said that lakhs of poor of the State would also be benefitted by this announcement of the Prime Minister.
He said that the Union Government would spend more than Rs 90,000 crore towards the extension of the scheme and if the total amount spent towards it in the previous three months was added together, a total of amount Rs 1.5 lakh crore would be spent towards the scheme.
Jai Ram Thakur said that the Union Government has transferred Rs 31,000 crore in the Jan Dhan Yojna accounts of almost 20 crore poor families and Rs 18,000 crore to the bank accounts of more than nine crore farmers during the last three months.
He said that One Nation, One Ration card is also being implemented and major beneficiaries of this would be those who go to other states, in search of employment.
Chief Minister also hailed the Prime Minister's ceaseless efforts and work to empower the poor, downtrodden and deprived sections of society, further expansion of the economic activities and efforts for achieving objectives of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
