Himachal promoting the diversity of Tourism at Surajkund

 

Having the diverse topography, culture and traditions, the State of Himachal Pradesh is a heaven for the tourists and attracting large number of tourists and people in the 34th Surajkund International Crafts Mela. The snow clad peaks, beautiful landscapes, valleys, lakes, lush green forest, streams, rivers etc. are the main attraction for the tourists in the hill state- Himachal Pradesh. In order to attract national and international tourists, the Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Himachal Pradesh is making all efforts to market and publicise the tourism potential of the State. The Department is organizing promotional events and participating in national, international level events to promote tourism and participation in the 34th Surajkund International Crafts Mela 2020 is a step forward in this direction.

Such international level platform will help in promotion of Tourism as well as rich cultural heritage, folk songs, handloom-handicrafts, cuisines of the state and these tourism related products are the attraction for the tourists. Himachal Pradesh is the Theme State in the prestigious Surajkund International Crafts Mela 2020. 

The Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation, HP is also focusing to encourage activity based tourism in the state to attract tourists. The unexplored and new destinations having the potential of Tourism, have also been identified to promote activity based tourism.

Under ' Nai Raahein, Nai Manzilein', a flagship scheme of the state government, the destination Janjehli in Mandi district would be developed as Eco Tourism; Bir-Billing in Kangra district as Aero Sports; Chanshal in Shimla district as Skiing destination and apart from this major reservoir like Pong Dam Lake in Kangra district and Larji and Tattapani in Mandi district would be developed as destinations for water sports.

The traditional folk culture and cuisines of the State, is an unique attraction for national and international tourists and these cultural assets are being showcased at national and international level platform, besides handloom, handicrafts, Kangra paintings and other hand made products to promote rich cultural heritage, which will helps to give boost to promote tourism of the State.

The artisans and entrepreneurs associated with the tourism and hospitality industry will get motivation and encouragement at international level fairs, marts, exhibitions and it also give exposure to the State as well. The new and unexplored areas are being highlighted in the exhibitions to attract the visitors. The tourism potential of the state is also being promoted and publicized through print, electronic and social media platforms.

Adventure tourism is a special attraction for tourists in Himachal Pradesh and large number of tourists exploring the high altitude treks, Himalayan lakes and valleys to experience the beauty and uniqueness of the State. In addition to this, tourists can experience the adventure of paragliding, river rafting and skiing etc.

The connectivity modes and accessibility details about various tourist sites of Himachal Pradesh are also being disseminated to the prospective tourist visiting the Surajkund Crafts Mela 2020.
