State Government intends to renovate house of Baba Kanshi Ram : CM

                 On the occasion of birth anniversary of Pahari Gandhi Baba Kanshi Ram, the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur announced that the State government would renovate the house of Baba Kanshi Ram which was in dilapidated condition in his ancestral village Gurnwad in Dadasiba of Kangra district and would develop it as a memorial provided his family members were agreed to hand over it to the government.

Chief Minister said that people of the country and state were grateful to Baba Kanshi Ram for his contribution for country's independence. He said that the State Language, Art and Culture Academy had been organizing literature and poetic seminars on his birth anniversary every year. Such State level seminar was organized by the Academy in Nagrota Bagwan of Kangra district, he added.

Jai Ram Thakur said that the State Government was committed towards welfare of freedom fighters and their dependents and they would be given appropriate honour. He said that the State Government wants his heirs to hand over the house of Baba Kanshi Ram to the Government so that it could be renovated and developed as a memorial. 

He said that memories of Baba Kanshi Ram, his belongings and poetic collection could be preserved in this memorial so that coming generations could go through the same and get inspiration from his life.
