Governor pays obeisance at Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple

                   

 

Governor Kavinder Gupta along with Lady Governor Bindu Gupta today paid obeisance at the historic Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple at Shimla and offered prayers for the peace, prosperity and well-being of the people of Himachal Pradesh.

He also visited the temple complex and took note of its rich spiritual heritage and its deep connection with the faith and traditions of Shimla.

On the occasion, the Governor recalled the revered saint Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj, whose spiritual association with this sacred place occupies an important place in the history and tradition of the Sankat Mochan Temple. Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj spent time in meditation at this serene location and expressed his desire to have a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman established here. Inspired by his vision, the construction of the temple was subsequently undertaken, with the shrine consecrated in 1966.

He said that places of faith such as Sankat Mochan Temple are not only centres of spiritual solace but also symbols of the timeless cultural and spiritual traditions of Himachal Pradesh.
