Tribal Development Minister chairs review meeting to accelerate development in tribal areas

      Tribal Development Minister Jagat Singh Negi today here chaired a review meeting to evaluate and expedite the progress of development projects in the tribal regions of Kinnaur and Lahaul & Spiti.

Jagat Singh Negi directed officials of the Public Works Department, Jal Shakti Department and Electricity Board to prepare a comprehensive action plan to improve essential services such as roads, drinking water and electricity in these remote areas. He stressed the importance of continuous monitoring and instructed to conducted reviews in PAC meetings to ensure the timely implementation of projects.

The Minister emphases on road infrastructure and said that there was a need for upgrading unpaved roads. He instructed officials to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for new road projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and to submit proposals for additional connectivity projects under NABARD funding. He also directed the installation of crash barriers at critical points to enhance road safety.

Recognizing the need for decentralization, Sh Negi authorized the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Pangi to issue mining permits which aims to improve administrative efficiency.

Senior officers from various departments were present in the meeting.
