The State Chief Electoral Officer Maneesh Garg today said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has given clarification regarding the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the upcoming bye-elections in Himachal Pradesh.
He said that as per directives of ECI, the MCC would be applicable solely in the constituencies of 10-Dehra, 51-Nalagarh and not in the whole of the Kangra and Solan districts. However, the provisions of the MCC would come into force in the whole district of Hamirpur.
The CEO while emphasizing the importance of adherence to these guidelines has urged the strict compliance with the MCC directions and other directives issued by the ECI from time to time.
