Dr. (Col.) Shandil thanks CM for Solan MC approval in principle

Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil thanked the Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh and Urban Development Minister Shri Sudhir Sharma for giving approval in principle for Solan Municipal Corporation. He said that this would make Solan the third Municipal Corporation and would ensure more development in the town.

Dr. Shandil said that Solan is the entry gate of the state and in past few years it has expanded to a large extent. He said that the district has also seen 10-12 percent rise in the population annually. The Minister said that in his election manifesto he had promised the people to get the town the status of Municipal Corporation and for it he had made continuous efforts for last three years.

He said that the status of Municipal Corporation would ensure rapid development in the town and the expansion in the infrastructure would facilitate more civic amenities to the people. This would also provide people with the facilities of park, play ground, Street lights and better road connectivity.

Dr. Shandil said that the district administration would soon present the report related to the Municipal Corporation to the State Government for final approval of the Cabinet. Efforts are being made for the overall development of the Solan town. The construction work of the Shamti byepass road has been started, which has recently received approval from NABARD. This byepass would control traffic congestion in the Solan town and would facilitate the locals of the area.
