State Health Society proposes Rs. 24110.40 lakh to strengthen the health infrastructure

    

The executive committee of the State Health Society has proposes a budget of Rs. 24110.40 lakh to strengthen the infrastructure of health institutions in the state for tackling the possible third wave of Covid-19 pandemic.

A Spokesperson of the health department informed here today that in a meeting of the executive committee held under the chairmanship of Secretary (Health), it was approved that a budget of Rs. 12 crore would be given to Director health services and Director, Medical Education and Research for procurement, maintenance of buffer stock and management of essential drugs required for the treatment of COVID positive cases.

He said that a dedicated pediatric care unit with 32 beds has been proposed each for Lahaul & Spiti and Kinnaur districts. In addition, establishment of 42 bedded pediatric care unit has been proposed for regional hospitals Bilaspur, Kullu, Solan, Una, zonal hospital Mandi, Dharamshala and Shimla, IGMC Shimla, medical college and hospital Mandi, Tanda, Nahan, Chamba, and Hamirpur. An 20 bedded units at civil hospitals Kaza, Pangi, Udaypur, Dodra, Bharmaur, Shillai, Kupvi, Nerwa and Pooh have been proposed. It has also been decided that 20 additional ICU beds would be established at Shimla, Mandi, Tanda, Nahan, Chamba, and Hamirpur medical colleges. Besides, five bedded ICUs at civil hospitals Dehra, Chaupal, Sarkaghat, karsog, Arki, Bagsiad, Ghumarwin, Dalhousie, Chuwari, Sarahan and Paonta would also be established. In addition, 100 bedded field hospitals have been proposed at Indora, Hamirpur and Nahan. A fund to the tune of Rs. 11935.39 lakh has been proposed for these activities.

The Spokesperson said that Rs. 1280 lakh has been proposed in order ensure sufficient oxygen supply. The liquid oxygen plant of 10 KL capacity have been proposed to be established at Nahan, Hamirpur, Dharamshala, Una, Kullu, Bilaspur, Solan, Palampur, Khaneri, Chamba, Kinnaur and Recongpeo. The 20KL Capacity LMO @ 100 lakh per unit have been proposed at IGMC Shimla, Nerchowk and Chamyana. He further added that LMO of 10 KL capacity @ 20 lakh per unit have been proposed at Sarkaghat and Dehra.

He said the State has proposed to augment the availability of additional human resource by engaging PG residents, UG Interns and MBBS, GNM and B.Sc.  students for which a budget of Rs. 2294.10 lakh has been kept. The State has also proposed to implement E-hospitals in all twelve district hospitals, 36 civil hospitals, two medical colleges including three units of IGMC Shimla i.e. IGMC Shimla, KNH and Chamyana by making a provision of Rs. 1428.04 lakh.

With a view to strengthen the tele-medicine in the state, it has been proposed to create two additional hubs in medical colleges for which a budget of Rs. 43.42 lakh has been proposed. For the capacity building and training on pediatric COVID 19 management, IT interventions and CME of professionals the State has proposed Rs. 96.94 lakh.

The Spokesperson said these proposals have been sent to the Government of India for approval.
