Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh while expressing his views after screening of short film ‘Nainsukh’ and illustrative talk on the great pahari painter of 18 century- Nainsukh of Guler at Gaiety Theatre here today said that he was a great and traditional Pahari painter who kept live the Pahari paintings. He was one of the prominent artists of his times who with his deep thoughts and precision painted the real, live and the natural keeping in mind the veracity of the theme.
The Chief Minister lauded the efforts of Director of the film Shri Amit Dutta for flashing the background of Nainsukh’s life and his masterpieces. He emphasized that his work should be preserved for generations in time to come so that they could know about the rich legacy of art and culture of our State.
Nainsukh produced entirely different kinds of work, turning to the more typical Pahari subject matter of illustrating poems recounting the stories from the great Hindu religious epics.
An illustrative talk by Padam Bhushan and Padam Shri Prof. B.N. Goswamy, who researched and reconstructed the biography of Nainsukh has been the basis of the film "Nainsukh" produced by Dr. Eberhard Fischer. The film Nainsukh was premiered at Venice film festival in 2010.
Shri Goswamy threw light on the life and paintings of Nainsukh and the circumstances which made him conduct the research on Nainsukh and about his paintings which he said speaks live and was recreation of the times of Nainsukh. He said that Nainsukh was an agent of change, who changed the minds of people by his majestic art work. Pahari paintings were moving in one direction when Nainsukh responded to Pahari paintings in his own style and drew parallel between penetration of characters and intensity of colouring therein.
Directed by Shri Amit Dutta a graduate from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune in 2004, the film precisely reflects the colour combination and moods of paintings, both pensive and cheerful of Nainsukh.
The Chief Minister also honoured Shri Amit Dutta and Prof Goswamy on the occasion.
Additional Chief Secretary, Education, Shri P.C. Dhiman welcomed the chief minister and other dignitaries on the occasion.

Pharka, Dr. Shrikant Baldi, Secretary, Language, Art and Culture, Ms. Anuradha Thakur, Director, Tourism, Shri Mohan Chauhan, Director, Information and Public Relations, Dr. M.P. Sood, Director, Art, Language and Culture, Shri Arun Sharma were present on the occasion amongst others.
