CM Announces Sub-Tahsil for Kakira and Inaugurates Tehsil Office at Sihunta

Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh today, sanctioned new Sub-Tehsil for Kakira area and dedicated the office of newly upgraded Tehsil at Sihunta in Chamba District. He inaugurated bridge over Chakki Khad on Danagari-Bai Ka Baag-Katori-Kalafat at Sanjhi Nallah completed at a cost of Rs. 3.56 crore, Tribal Bhawan at Sihunta worth Rs.1.57 crore and Dramman-Sihunta Chowari Road, Phase-I.

Chief Minister also laid foundation stone of PHC at Kakira proposed to be constructed at a cost of Rs.1.39 crore, Sports Stadium to be built at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.5 crore and helipad at Chowari. He also laid foundation stone of the building of  Govt. Degree College at Sihunta to be constructed at a cost of Rs.5 crore. He also listened to the grievances of the people at different places.   

 Later, in the noon, addressing a public meeting organized at Chowari, the Chief Minister said that the state had made a substantial development under various Congress regimes. He said he was well aware of the geography and culture of the whole state as he had been regularly touring to different parts of Himachal Pradesh sans any prejudice to meet the people, listen to their grievances, addressing them and taking development to the new heights as per the aspirations and ambitions of the people.   

Virbhadra Singh said that today the State presented a different picture as compared to past in every walk of life. The state had 116 Govt. Degree Colleges and over 15,000 schools to provide quality education to the students near to their door steps. There were five medical colleges in the state besides many a technical institutions. IIT at Mandi, IIMS at Dhoula Kuan in Sirmaur District and AIMS at Bilaspur were opened by the Congress Government. Medical colleges had been opened in Chamba, Hamirpur and Nahan. All parts of the state were getting uninterrupted electric supply.

 Looking into history after independence, he said the country made significant progress in all sectors especially agriculture. We were dependent upon foodgrains before the green revolution which was brought into the country by the Congress Government at Centre. The industrial revolution changed the fortunes of the nation as it generated a big employment. We should rise above petty differences of caste, culture, language and religion and work unitedly for the integrity and development of the country. The nation could lead to unrest and divide if we forget the path and ideals shown by our great leaders like Mahatma Gandhiji, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Maulana Aazad.    

Reprimanding the Central Government for demonetization, he said it took the common man to the path of discomfort and sleeplessness. He also took it to the task saying that it was Mahatma Gandhi who singlehandedly led the people against the British and won freedom for the country but the Khadi Village Industries Commission (KVIC) issued a calendar recently which had no picture of the Father of the Nation. In place of the picture of Mahatma Gandhi, the photo of the prime minister was designed.

  Shri Virbhadra Singh sanctioned a Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Mail. He announced Rs.15,000/- each to GSSS, Sihunata and Kakira and Govt. College Chowari for promotion of cultural activities in these institutions. On the demands put forth by the Chairman, State Pollution Control Board, he said that after looking into all aspects, a sub-depot of HRTC could be sanctioned for Chowari area and various Schools could be upgraded if all the norms were fulfilled.  

Chief Minister said as the road Chowari to Chamba via Jot had been taken over by the National Highways Authority of India, the issue of Chowari Chamba tunnel would be taken up with the Central Government so that Chamba District might remain connected throughout the year with the rest of the world.   

Forest Minister Thakur Singh Bharmauri also spoke on the occasion. He condemned the Central Govt. for demonetization and playing a politics based on caste, creed and religion. He said it was Virbhadra Singh who changed the destiny of the state and took it to new heights of development. The state had emerged as a model of development under his dynamic leadership, he added.

Chairman, State Pollution Control Board and former MLA Kuldeep Singh Pathania greeted the Chief Minister and thanked him for dedicating and laying foundation stones of many a developmental works at various places of Bhattiyat Assembly Constituency. He credited the Chief Minister for the progress made in various fields.

General Secretary Youth Congress Kangra and Chamba Parliamentary Constituencies Sunnabh Singh also addressed the audience and criticized the Central Government for its unproductive policies.

General Secretary, District Congress Committee Onkar Singh Chambial welcomed the Chief Minister and other guests. He also presented the list of demands of Bhattiyat Constituency. 

       President District Congress Committee Surendra Bhardwaj, District Chairman APMC Neeraj Nayyar, Vice-Chairman Zila Parishad Kiran Bala, Legal Cell State Congress Rajeev Kaushal, Chairman HPBSE Balbir Tegta, DC Sudesh Mokta, SP Virendra Tomar and other persons of repute were also present on the occasion.
