Chief Minister announces sops for Jasawan-Pragpur area

Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh laying foundation stone of Govt. Degree College at Dadasiba in Kangra district on 28 May 2016.

  • Tehsil Welfare Office to be opened at Dadasiba
  • Irrigation Scheme for Jaswan Pragpur area

Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh who was addressing a public meeting at Jandaur, near Sansarpur Terrace in Jaswan Pragpur constituency in district Kangra today said it was unfortunate that a sitting MLA, who was supposed to work for welfare of the people and undertake development works of the area, was opposing setting up of a college at Jandaur and had sought stay from the court in this regard. He should have learnt a lesson  from the local Pradhan, Ms. Shrestha Devi, who had donated land for the College whereas the sitting MLA of Jaswan-Pragpur was playing petty politics for reasons well known to him and which were  against public interest.

“One thing which was seen for the first time was  that a representative of the people,  whom they has voted to power, created hinderances for setting up a college  and the people who create hinderance can never be true benefactor of the people”, said Shri Virbhadra Singh. The MLAs come to Chief Minister, urging for carrying out development works in their constituencies, but this was the first MLA who opposed the setting up of college, he said.

The Chief Minister said that Rs 15 crore was to be sanctioned for construction of college at Jandaur, which would have benefited the children, however sooner or later, the area will get a college, he added.

Till the time, the college building gets constructed, the classes would be started elsewhere, he added.

He said that the State BJP leaders can never think big and never want to leave their cheap propaganda and practises. But, the development was a continuous process and will ever remain so and certainly a day will come when there would be a college here.

He exhorted the people never to vote for a candidate, who create obstacles in development works. He said that the government was committed to develop the area, adding that Himachal was a fast progressing state and as of now, the Panchayats had also been empowered to get constructed small paths and roads in their panchayats. Today, more than 15534 schools and 110 colleges were functioning in the state.

To strengthen the health services in the State, three medical colleges were being opened in Chamba, Hamirpur and Nahan for which a provision of Rs 189 crore each had been made, besides AIIMS, like institute was coming up at Bilaspur and in addition to this the decks had been cleared for taking over Employees State Insurance Corporation, (ESIC) Medical college and hospital at Ner Chowk in Mandi district.
