Bir-Billing to be developed as major adventure sports destination :CM

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur being accorded rousing welcome on his arrival at Baijnath during his first day of winter sojourn to Kangra district on 12 Feb 2020.

                                      

  • CM announces Jal Shakti Division for Baijnath

 Bir-Billing would be developed from tourism point of view as a major adventure sports destination under ADB funding and 'Nai Rahein Nai Manzilein'. Jal Shakti Division would be opened at Baijnath to facilitate the people of the area. This was stated by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while addressing the massive public meeting at Mela Ground Baijnath in Kangra district during the first day of winter sojourn today. 

Chief Minister said that during his one day tour to the Baijnath Vidhan Sabha area he has inaugurated and dedicated developmental works worth about Rs. 50 crore. He said that three water supply schemes foundation stone of which were laid by him today would go a long way in providing potable water to the people of the area. He said that adequate funds would be made available for time bound completion of various developmental works of the area. 

Jai Ram Thakur said the state has witnessed unprecedented development during the last two years and all this was possible due to the love and affection of the people of the State. He said that the Congress leaders were not able to digest this massive mandate given by the people of the State and were making much hue and cry over this. He said that in the Vidhan Sabha bye elections the BJP won in both Dharamshala and Pachhad Constituency by a handsome margin.

Chief Minister said that the people of Kangra district were fortunate that the Prime Minister and leader of world’s biggest Party, Narendra Modi have visited the district twice in two years. He said that during the Investor’s Meet the Prime Minister had even urged the entrepreneurs to invest in the state as he was guaranteeing them best environment for investment. He said that it was strange that the leader of opposition was making baseless allegations regarding safe guarding interests of the state. He said that the persons of the state have given the government a massive mandate and it was moral responsibility of the government to safeguard the interests of the state.

Jai Ram Thakur said that the double engine of the centre and state government was poised to make Himachal Pradesh the most progressive and developed state in the country. He said that the state government also launched HimCare scheme to cover the 22 lakh people not covered under Ayushmann Bharat. He said that till date over 58,000 people have been benefitted under this scheme and over Rs. 58 crore spent under this scheme.  He said that the state government launched Grihini Suvidha Yojna to cover all the families not covered under Ujjawala Yojna and today  Himachal Pradesh has become first State of the country to become ‘Smoke free’. He said that financial assistance of Rs. 2000 per month was being provided to the families of those with seriously ill patients. He said that facility of kidney transplant has been started at IGMC Shimla and Tanda Medical College was poised to emerge as a premier medical institution of the country. 

Chief Minister said that as many as 181 Janmanch programs have been organized in different parts of the State. He said that more than 90 percent of these complaints were redressed on the spot and the remaining complaints forwarded immediately to the concerned departments for further action. He said that apart from this, Mukhya Mantri Seva Sankalp Helpline-1100 has been started to bring the government closer to the public and to solve most of the problems of the citizens at their doorsteps.

Chief Minister said that the State Government has provided NOC to the Government of India for upgrading Ayurvedic College Paprola to AIIMS Level. He announced Rs 1.50 crore for auditorium at Paprola Ayurvedic College. He also announced opening of police post at Bir. He said that matter would be taken with the Government of India for construction of Railway over bridge in the area.

Earlier, the Chief Minister preformed Bhumi Poojan/up gradation of Shitla to Sakri road to be completed by spending Rs. 3.26 crore. He also laid foundation stone of Water Supply Scheme Nohra Chakol to be completed by spending an amount of Rs. 3.51 crore. He also laid foundation stone of Government I.T.I. Sakri to be completed at a cost of Rs. 9.52 crore and of water supply scheme Dhanag to be completed at a cost of Rs. 6.88 crore.

Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated Centre of Excellence for Geriatric Care at Ayurvedic College Paprola completed at a cost of Rs. 8.38 crore. He also laid foundation stones of Water Supply Scheme Tikkri Sagoor and Water Supply Scheme Rakkar Majherna under Jal Jivan Mission to be completed by spending Rs. 3.03 crore and Rs. 11 crore respectively.

Health Minister Vipin Singh Parmar thanked the Chief Minister for starting his winter sojourn from the ‘Shiv Bhoomi’ Baijnath this year. He said that during the last two years the state government has ensured balanced and equitable development of the State. He said that Ayurvedic College Paprola was a gift of former Chief Minister Shanta Kumar and now the present Chief Minister was ensuring that this College was upgraded as AIIMS of Ayurveda. He also thanked the Chief Minister for starting ‘HimCare Scheme’ for the people not covered under the ‘Ayushmann Bharat’ scheme of the Government of India. 

Local MLA Mulkh Raj Premi while welcoming the Chief Minister to his home constituency detailed various developmental demands of the area. He said that the work on Holi Utrala Road was in progress and rupees six crore has been sanctioned for Bir Billing under ‘Nai Rahein Nai Manzelien’ for which he thanked the Chief Minister. He also expressed gratitude towards the Chief Minister for dedicating developmental projects worth crores of Rupees for the area. He also urged the Chief Minister for developing the area from tourism point of view as it has immense potential for adventure tourism. 

BJP Mandal President Bikham Singh welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries present on the occasion.
