Governor Acharya Devvrat said that India had glorious history of sacrifices. They were such persons who did not care about themselves and their family and sacrificed their lives for independence of the nation. He said in this history of sacrifices, the name of the revolutionaries of Pajhota Golikand was also recorded, whom we bow down.

The Governor was addressing on the occasion of the diamond jubilee celebrations on the completion of 75 years of Pajhota Golikand at Habban under sub-divisional Rajgarh of Sirmaur district today.

Acharya Devvrat said that Vaidya Surat Singh was the pride of Himachal Pradesh. He was a great revolutionary warrior, who made the movement against the British rule and became the leading hero of the freedom movement in this region. He said we all should be proud of such a great warrior.

He said Vaidya Surat Singh had special honor in the entire area, which was why he won uncontested election from the region. He was the inspiration source for everyone. He said that 55 freedom fighters of Pajhota movement were sentenced to death.

Recalling the patriotism of the great revolutionary Veer Savarkar and Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil, the Governor said that they chose the path of sacrifice not for their pleasure but for our happiness. Likewise, the revolutionaries of Pajhota movement were also heavily oppressed. We should take inspiration from these great revolutionaries and have pride in our culture and Indianness.

He said that for the last three years, he had started campaign on some social issues in the state, including drug-free Himachal, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, social harmony, water conservation, literacy, sanitation and zero cost, natural agriculture and cow rearing.

Acharya Devvrat said that with the support of the state government, zero cost natural farming was being promoted widely in the state and by 2022, efforts would be made to declare the state as a natural farming state.

He said that the history of chemical cultivation was only 30-40 years old, whereas the history of Indian agriculture was the oldest in the world. With a view to enhance production, we weakened the fertility of the land, polluted the environment and poisoned the agriculturist products. He urged for the cultivation of natural farming with the help of the Indian breed of cow and said that 30 acres of land could be cultivated from an indigenous cow.

On the occasion, the Governor honoured the members of the freedom fighter families, including Vaidya Surat Singh's wife, Suneharo Devi.
