Panchayat Representatives and govt. functionaries should reach grass root level to aware people of g

   The panchayats representatives and the government functionaries should reach amongst people to make them aware of programmes and policies being implemented for welfare of people. They should disseminate welfare policies and their benefits extended to people during present regime of the congress government.

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh stated this while addressing a public meeting at Kumarhatti in Solan district after he dedicated multipurpose hall and play ground at Kumarhatti in GP Chewa on which Rs. 6 crore were spent. Named after the Chief Minister, the complex is constructed under Vikas Mein Jan Sahyog scheme with grant-in-aid from the government. 

“The first priority of any government is to cater to the educational needs of the people of the state and I feel proud to see Himachal Pradesh being adjudged as the best big state in higher education”, said Virbhadra.  To fulfill the commitment of providing quality education at the very door step to facilitate the girl child the most, the government decided to introduce scholarship of Rs. 5000 annually  for girls belonging to Below Poverty Line  (BPL)  families  under Beti Hai Anmol Yojna who are studying in graduate level and equivalent courses, including those of Bachelor Engineering, B.Tech, MBBS, B.ed and LLB, said the Chief Minister. 

He said that emoluments of contract employees have been enhanced from 50 per cent to 75 per cent of grade pay and wages of daily wagers have been increased from Rs 150 to Rs 210, besides many other benefits to employees and pensioners. He said that the social welfare pension was enhanced from Rs 450 to Rs 700 benefiting 3.90 thousand widows, aged and disabled. 

Indian Institute of Management has started functioning in Dhaulakuan in district Sirmaur, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT),at Kamand in Mandi, IIIT  in Una.

The state government was providing unemployment allowance to unemployed persons in the State. In order to upgrade the skills of unemployed youth and increase their employability, the Government has implemented Rs 500 crore Skill Development Allowance Scheme.

Besides, the government in order to strengthen the health infrastructure has opened three new medical colleges in the state, besides ESIC college in Mandi. The government has given adequate land paving way for construction of AIIMS at Bilaspur but the delay was on part of Union Health Ministry, he said adding that he hoped that the issue would be resolved soon. I want that more health institutions like health sub centres and Primary Health Centres to be opened in far flung and rural areas of the state, he said. When the people are healthy so does the state progresses, he said. 

He also laid foundation stone of new building of Leprosy Hospital Lohanji  to be completed with an outlay of Rs.4  crore. The hospital will be a pre fabricated structure and completed very soon.

 He also laid foundation stone of BDO Office building Dharampur to cost Rs.3.86 crore and foundation stone of Kangar bridge on Sultanpur Marighat Dilman to be constructed at a cost Rs. 34 lakh.  

The Chief Minister dedicated Lift Water Supply Scheme (LWSS) Kiarua Jandori completed at a cost of Rs.1.47 crore,  inaugurated 33 KV Sub Station Gandhigram set up by incurring a sum of Rs. 5 crore.

He also announced upgradation of Primary School Dabhog to Middle school. 

State Youth Congress President, Vikramaditya Singh also addressed the gathering. He congratulated the panchayat members for the multipurpose complex completed within a year. He said that the government was committed to strengthen sports infrastructure in the state and supporting sportsmen who had brought laurels to the state. International cricketer Sushma Verma and Deepak Thakur from Nalagarh were given appointment in police department as Deputy Superintendent of Police.  The state government will ensure placement of other sportspersons who have excelled themselves at National and International level in government sector . 

Vice-Chairman, Khadi Board, Ramesh Chauhan, welcomed and honoured the Chief Minister to his home Panchayat, Chewa besides other dignitaries and thanked him for dedicating the multipurpose indoor complex which was constructed under Vikas Mein Jan Sanyog. 

Vice-Chairman, State Planning Board, Gangu Ram Musafir, DCC, President, Solan,  Rahul Thakur, General Secretary, HPCC Vinod Sultanpuri, Vice-Chairman, Khadi Board, Ramesh Chauhan, Chairman, Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, Hardeep Bawa, Chairman, Zila Parishad, Dharampal Chauhan, Member, BoD, HPTDC, Surinder Sethi, Chairman, APMC, Ramesh Thakur, Chairman, Jogindera Bank, Mohan Mehta, Pradhan GP Chewa, Chitrlekha were also present on the occasion amongst others.
