CM honours HP, NCC cadets

Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh with (NCC) Cadets from Himachal Pradesh who had  participated in Republic Day Celebration Parade in New Delhi at Shimla today.

           As many as 23 National Cadet Corps (NCC) Cadets from Himachal Pradesh who participated in Republic Day Celebration (RDC) Parade in New Delhi were honoured by the Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh here today.

He said that it was a matter of great pride that Republic Day parade witnessed emergence of NCC girls and boys from Himachal in a big way and created history of sorts, besides it was a great honour for the State as cadet Reena Devi from Sanjauli college happened to be Commander of NCC girls contingent on Rajpath along with other participants namely cadet Bhuwenshwari, cadet Praveen Rathour, cadet Sheetal, cadet Mamta Kumari, and Cadet Saurabh Rohal on 26th January 2015 at New Delhi. Cadet Baby Sharma was adudged as the best stick orderly besides Rituja Kulkarni won the Gold Medal Commentary during horse riding competition and during Vice-President’s visit. Cadet Shivani took part in guard of Honour drill. Cadet Sunita Devi had the honour of commanding girl’s contingent of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh (PHHPC) and Orissa in Prime Minister Rally on 28th January wherein Ms. Kritika, Ms. Shivani, Baby Sharma, Shivani Sharma,  cadet Shivani and cadet Tej Ram, Shubham Chauhan, Shubham Kumar Thakur and Shammi Rana were from Himachal Pradesh. Besides cadet Akshay Kumar won the Bronze medal in Naval Shipping Model competition.

The Chief Minister said that it was due to immense contribution of Shimla Group Cadets which resulted in winning the prestigious Republic Day Banner 2015 champion trophy.

Chief Minster lauded the role of the Himachali contingents and said that all colleges in the State should have the NCC wings besides asked for starting the same in some prominent plus two schools.

 Sh Virbhadra Singh also felicitated Whole Time Lady Officer (WTLO) Capt Santosh Kumari (Solan Girls Battalion) who was in-charge of National Integration and Awareness programme team of PHHPC and secured first rank at National Level. Apart from this, the Chief Minister also congratulated others who were part and parcel of the team of Himachal Pradesh in Republic Day Celebrations which included Associate NCC Officer (ANO) Paras Dhiman from Dharamsala.

He said that it was rather historic that cadets in such large number were selected and participated in RDC whereas last year there was only one girl from the State. He said that the girls from the State were much ahead of boys and were bringing laurels to the State and the Country as well in all sports and extra curricular activities.

The Chief Minister also honoured the cadets on the occasion.

Brig. Pradeep Kaul (Sena Medal) and Commander NCC group Shimla, Col. M.S.Ahaluwalia, Deputy Commander, Col. Atul Chaudhary, training officer, Col Virendar Sharma, Col R.K. Kadvan were also present on the occasion besides the cadets and their parents.
