Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh while presiding over the annual get-together function, Jashan’ of Nankhari Students Welfare Association here today said that such events provide a platform for recreational activities, besides strengthening the bonds of brotherhood.
He said that one should remember that ‘Knowledge is Power’ and nothing else but absolute and inclusive knowledge helps a person in achieving the targets set in life. Education is a tool for advancement and the State Government was committed to open educational institutions in the far-off areas of the State.
He said that a new college building was coming up at Nankhari at a cost Rs 20 crore and initially a sum of rupees three crore had been released for starting the work. “My priority is to establish schools and colleges in remote areas so that more girls could pursue their higher education and contribute in development of the Nation” said Sh Virbhadra Singh. The Government was also ensuing road connectivity in rural areas to ensure the development of these areas, he said. He said metalling work on Khamadi-Tikkar road in Nankhari area was being ensured and the Government would also take care of adequate doctors and para-medical staff in the Referral hospital, Nankhari besides necessary medical equipments required for the smooth functioning of the hospital.
Lauding the efforts of the association in organizing the function, the Chief Minister said that he want to see it grow more in times to come.
The Chief Minister announced Rs. 20,000 to the association for the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Shri Nandlal said that there was a need to expand the association by uniting the students, public figures and the panchayati raj representatives.
A colourful cultural programme was also presented by the students on the occasion.
Earlier, President of the Nankhari Students Welfare Association Shri Gaurav Thakur and Chairperson Ms Rekha Mehta welcomed and greeted the Chief Minister and other guests present on the occasion.
