Congress governments ensured all round development of Hamirpur
Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh who was the Chief Guest during the Cultural evening of the three day Hamir Utsav said that Hamirpur, which was a part of Kangra district earlier, had fast developed since its inception and had achieved many milestones in developmental field. He said that it was due to the efforts of Congress that Hamirpur was declared as a separate district and 99 percent of the development was done by the successive Congress Governments particularly due to the efforts and farsightedness of first Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Late Dr. Y.S.Parmar.
Chief Minister said that all the five sub-division viz: Nadaun, Hamirpur, Badsar and Bhoranj were opened by the Congress Government and of late the Government had made Sujanpur Tihra as a Sub-division. Besides, National Institute of Technology which was brought by the Congress, Rs. 75 crore Bamsan-Lagwalti drinking water supply scheme in the district was also due to the initiative of the congress Government. He said that a Medical college would soon be opened in Hamirpur. “We have not left any stone unturned for developing the district and never believed in regionalism and will ensure equal and balanced development of all the areas of the State alike” he said.
He said that some vested forces were out to achieve selfish motives by raising regional and language differences but the Congress Government would not tolerate such type of modus-operandi, propaganda and tactics of dividing the people of the State. He said that the strength of the people lie in their Unity.
Shri Virbhadra Singh exhorted the younger generation to work for preservation of customs and culture of the State and said that we had done a lot and much more have to be done in the field of development. Sky is the limit for us and we will see that Himachal emerges as one of the leading state in overall development. He urged the younger generation not to get swayed by the opportunists who try to divide the State on the basis of region and religion and on the pretext of vote-politics.
He said that the life of the people of the State revolve around the local deities and added that these traditions had to be carried along in times to come together conserving our rich culture.
He congratulated the district administration for organizing the Mela successfully and wished prosperity and wealth to the people of the district.
Earlier, the Chief Minister was welcomed and honoured by Shri Rohan Thakur, Deputy Commissioner on the occasion.
