Government focusing upon structural reforms: Chief Minister
Himachal Pradesh bagged the Diamond States Award for its remarkable progress under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. Chief Minister was presented the prestigious award during the Diamond States Summit 2025 held at New Delhi today by the Network 18 Group.
Speaking about his vision for the State, Chief Minister said that his government is envisioning to make Himachal Pradesh self reliant and one of the richest states of the country. He said that he is focusing upon structural reforms which will not only bring spectacular results but contribute towards the financial stability of the state. He said that states have rights in a Federal Structure and his government is fighting for the rights of Himachal Pradesh and to secure funds for development.
Outlining his priorities, Chief Minister said that he is committed to strengthen education system and added that health institutions will be strengthened by upgrading medical technology. He said that state has immense hydro potential however state's interest in these were ignored earlier and now the government has taken up with centre for enhanced royalties and taking over of hydro power projects. Further elaborating on Vision 2027, he said that Himachal Pradesh will become Green Energy state very soon for which sincere efforts are underway. He said that the government's goal was to make the State the country's first green state by 2026. In the government sector, HPPCL aims to establish 500 MW of solar capacity projects by 2026-27. To achieve this goal, around 626 MW of solar projects are in various stages of development, he added.
He said that Tourism is the strength of the state and government is developing four natural wellness centres to promote health tourism in the state. He added that many other ambitious projects are in the pipeline to strengthen infrastructure which would go a long way in attracting more tourists.
While speaking about his sincere intentions towards the well being of the people, Chief Minister said that he is very simple at heart and humble person by conduct. He added that he drove his own Alto car to the state assembly for presenting budget, which was only a reflection of his own simplicity and wish to identify with common man.
