HRTC – Ensuring Comfortable Journey

Kalpana Devi, Resident of Banuti Village of District Shimla comes to Shimla daily covering 15 Kilometers distance, Mishru Ram, Resident of Malayana also covers about 20 kms distance to reach his working place and Resident of Dargi Village of District Shimla, Shri Yog Raj also travels approximately 20 kms to reach his working place daily, but all these yellow card holders are happy with the 20 percent discount, which is being provided to them by the Himachal Road Transport Corporation.

Daily thousands of passenger’s are availing various concessions being provided to them by HRTC.  The Yellow Card Holders are allowed 20 percent discount in fare within the radius of 40 kms. from the place of issuance of cards.  For availing 20 percent discount under yellow card, general public can purchase the card against the payment of Rs. 50 having its validity for one year.  On the same lines, Smart Card has also been introduced for 10 percent concession for traveling in HRTC buses.  Under Smart Card Scheme 20 percent concession in fare has been provided as a special gesture to the senior citizens.  For Smart Card Scheme also, general public can purchase the Smart Card against the payment of Rs. 50 having its validity for one year. 

The Himachal Road Transport Corporation is ensuring comfortable journey to the passengers and pioneer in the North India to introduce Volvo Buses.    At present these buses are being operated between Shimla-Delhi-Shimla, Dharamshala-Delhi and Manali-Delhi. The passengers are appreciating these services and Corporation has earned profit for the same. Semi Delux buses between Shimla-Dharamshala, Shimla-Delhi, Shimla-Manali, Dharamshala-Delhi, Manali-Delhi, Baijnath–Delhi and Palampur-Delhi has been started to ensure comfortable journey to the passengers.  Express buses are also being run from all District Headquarters to the capital. The Corporation has also started Courier Scheme from one bus stand to another in Corporation buses.

The revenue of the Corporation has increased to the tune of   Rs. 15 crore. The facility of computerized bus booking would be soon extended at all major bus stands. The performance of HRTC has been adjudged best in all parameters amongst the hill states of the country. The Corporation has begged “Best Performance in the Vehicle Productivity Award”, “Lowest Operational -Cost Award”, “Highest Improvement in the Vehicle Productivity Award, “Transport Minister Trophy” for providing efficient and safe transport services, “Vehicle Productivity Award” for highest performance & maximum improvement. The State Government has authorized driver’s training schools at Jassuar, Parwanoo, Shimla & Mandi for providing training to the drivers of heavy vehicles.  

Amidst hill areas and difficult topographical conditions, Himachal Road Transport Corporation was moving all the nook and corner of the State safely by always ensuring comforts of the passengers.
